Three generations of musicians who share the common passion for the sound of the '40s but above all for improvisation and swing. Certain members of Swing Session have been playing for several years in different stable formations together or on specific projects.
"When performing music from the 30's to 40's, the idea is not to totally reproduce the original arrangement, but to grasp the essential spririt of it. And this is precisely what the five fellows of Swing Session have achieved with this album, by putting their heart and soul into it.
The true essence of swing and the right spirit enlighten the tracks. You really can tell these musicians have devoted their whole life to their passion for jazz music... quite a challenge! In each of their performances, one perceives a great respect for the glorious past (with credit to Hamp, Bigard or Slam etc.) together with a genuine musical creativity.

Trois générations de musiciens qui partagent la même passion pour le son des années 40 mais surtout pour l’improvisation et le swing. Certains se cottoyent depuis longtemps à travers diverses formations fixes ou lors de projets ponctuels.
"La musique des années 30-40 ne devrait pas se jouer à la lettre, mais dans l'esprit! C'est exactement ce que font les cinque galopins de Swing Session qui, de plus, n'en manquent pas (ni le swing, ni d'esprit, d'ailleurs...).
Parce que ces musiciens on su assortir leur vie à leur indéfectible passion du jazz, ce qui n'est pas une mince affaire! Dans chacune de leurs interventions, on entend à la fois le respect à glorieux passé admiré (les clins d'oeil à Hamp, Bigard ou autre Slam) et le plaisir de construire ses propres lignes mélodiques à partir d'un terreau particulièrement fertile. Tre generazioni di musicisti che condividono la stessa passione per i suoni degli anni '40 ma soprattutto per l'improvvisazione e lo swing. Alcuni di loro si accompagnano da tempo in formazioni stabili oppure in progetti ad-hoc.
"La musica degli anni 30 e 40 non andrebbe suonata alla lettera, bensì interpretata nello spirito! Esattamente come fanno i cinque componenti della band Swing Session, che ci mettono tutto il loro impegno, lo swing, lo spirito, e quant'altro.
Questi musicisti hanno dedicato la loro vita alla musica jazz, che non è da poco. In tutti i loro interventi si sente il grande rispetto per il passato glorioso (con accenni a Hampton, Bigard o Slam), ma anche il piacere di costruire le proprie linee melodiche partendo da un terreno particolarmente fertile.
