This is Virginie Teychené’s second album in her new career. She has stepped into the busy world of Jazz singers with "Portraits", recorded in 2006, which had already set her apart from her colleagues and notably at the Jazz à Juan Revelations in 2008. For her style isn’t ordinary. She belongs to the tradition of those who have made the history of Jazz. Knowing that an album needs time and maturing, she waited 3 years to come back. I Feel So Good is directly in line with the previous release and yet is different from it, which is proof of Virginie’s strong and mature personality. The innovations brought to the chosen songs through the mastery and the perfection of the performance conceal many surprises. In fact, Virginie didn’t do it the easy way. Gifted musicians are aware that being an artist has its share of danger and she selected major songs, taking the risk of being compared to the reference versions: standards recorded by the best, the Jazz repertoire interpreted by exceptional performers - twelve songs written more than thirty years ago along with three original compositions. And yet, each one of them sounds contemporary thanks to Virginie’s brand new interpretation. Virginie Teychené is not only a Jazz singer but essentially a great interpreter. Sometimes intense or sometimes soft, playful or grave, her voice installs us in the songs and creates as many particular moments, poetical spaces where words become music, where the intellect is magically merged with the senses, where lyricism is melody. Elle est entrée dans l’univers actuellement très fréquenté des chanteuses de jazz avec "Portraits", enregistré en 2006, qui l’avait déjà distinguée parmi ses consœurs et lors des Révélation de Jazz à Juan 2008. Car son registre n’est pas de l’ordre commun. Elle s’inscrit dans la tradition de celles qui ont écrit l’histoire de cette musique. Consciente qu’une œuvre s’élabore dans la continuité et le long terme, elle a attendu trois ans pour remettre son ouvrage. Et malgré la parenté évidente, sceau des personnalités matures et affirmées, I Feel so Good, qui poursuit la démarche, est différent du précédent. Les novations apportées au traitement des pièces retenues, par la maîtrise et la perfection de l’exécution, deviennent surprises. Virginie n’a, en effet, pas choisi la facilité. Comme les musiciens de talent conscients de la part de danger que comporte la profession d’artiste, elle a choisi des œuvres majeures, prenant le risque de la comparaison avec les versions de référence : des standards enregistrés par les plus grandes, le répertoire du jazz illustré par des interprètes d’exception : douze pièces composées et créées il y a plus de 30 ans et seulement trois créations originales. Et pourtant, toutes paraissent de maintenant, l’interprétation leur conférant une nouvelle jeunesse. Virginie Teychené n’est pas que chanteuse. C’est essentiellement une grande interprète, et particulièrement de jazz ; de l’intense au léger et du badin au grave, Virginie Teychené installe avec sa voix superbe dans ces chansons, qui sont autant de moments musicaux, des espaces poétiques où les mots deviennent musique, où l’intelligible se métamorphose par magie en sensible et le lyrisme en chant. Mit “Portraits“ , aufgenommen im Jahr 2006, und mit der Teilnahme an “Révélation du Jazz“ in Juan im Jahr 2008, hat sich zwischen den heuteigen Jazz Sängerinnen empor gearbeitet und gleichzeitig bemerkenswert ausgezeichnet und gesondert. Ihr Stimmenregister ist ausserordentlich. Gehört den Jenigen die die Geschichte des Jazz geschrieben haben. Um ihre neue Produktion zu veröffentlichen, hat sie sich 3 Jahre Zeit gegeben, damit die nötige Maturitätsentwicklung einfliessen konnte. Die Neuigkeiten in diesem zweiten Album, sei es dank der musikalischen Beherrschung sei es der spielerischen Perfektion, stellen wahre Wunder und Überraschungen dar. Virginie hat den schwierigsten Weg ausgesucht: 12 Kompositionen, davon 9 Standard die von den berühmtesten Musiker vor 30 Jahren gesungen worden sind und nur 3 Original Kompositionen. Man muss feststellen, dass diese 9 Standard wie durch eine Frischzellenkur ein neues Leben und eine neue Jugend gefunden haben. Virginie Teychené ist nicht nur eine grosse und begabte Sängerin, vielmehr eine grosse Jazz Interpretin wo das dichterische Pathos durch die musikalische Metamorphose sublimiert wird. Es gibt noch etwas zu sagen: man muss sie anhören und ich bin sicher dass ein Bis notwendig sein wird.
